My Carveco software warns me that my display card does not meet your requirements. What should I do?

This knowledge base article provides guidance about a warning message displayed in Carveco Version: 1.20 Build: 2020-12-14-1614-cd5dbac1 and above where your computer's display card fails to meet our system requirements.

Does my computer meet your system requirements?

It is important for you to ensure that the computer on which you've installed and activated your Carveco software meets the system requirements published in the following knowledge base article: What are the system requirements of your software?

Where a warning message about your display card is displayed on the Start page after starting your Carveco software, this results from:

  • your computer's display card, otherwise known as a graphics card or integrated graphics, failing to meet our system requirements; or
  • an outdated display driver being installed on your computer.

Where you know what display card is installed on your computer, please check its specification and confirm whether it is at least OpenGL® 4.0 compliant and DirectX® 11 compliant. If it is not, it is necessary for you to upgrade the display card to one that meets our system requirements or purchase a new computer with a display card which does.

Selecting the Help > About Carveco menu option in your Carveco software displays the About box, and its Diagnostics area confirms the manufacturer and model of your computer's display card, as well as the OpenGL version supported.

What display card do I have on my computer?

If you are uncertain about what display card you have installed on your computer, please complete the following steps:

  1. Press the Windows key on your keyboard, then type dxdiag in the displayed Search box.
  2. Click dxdiag Run command.  The DirectX Diagnostic Tool is displayed.
  3. Click Save All Information. The Save As dialog is displayed.
  4. In the File Name box, type dxdiag.
  5. Save the file to your computer's desktop.
  6. Click Exit. The DirectX Diagnostic Tool closes.
  7. Right-click the saved dxdiag.txt file and select the Open with > Notepad context menu option. Notepad is opened with the contents of your dxdiag.txt file shown.
  8. In Notepad, scroll down through the file until you reach the Display Devices section. Note the Card Name and Manufacturer.

How do I update my display card's driver?

When you've established the display card's name and manufacturer, check the manufacturer's website for a display driver update and install it on your computer. Most reputable manufacturers offer an auto-detect option to identify your exact display card, then retrieve the latest display driver available for it. To avoid mistakenly installing an incompatible driver, we recommend that you use this method for updating.

Prior to installing a display driver update, it is important to shut down your Carveco software. After installing the latest available display driver, you might also be prompted to restart your computer. If so, restart your computer as directed.

Links to the most common display card manufacturer's websites are provided below, and take you directly to the page used to check for display driver updates:

Note: If the Card Name in your dxdiag.txt file is shown as Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, and the Manufacturer or Chip type is shown as Intel, then check the Intel website. If the Card Name in your dxdiag.txt file is shown as Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, and the Manufacturer or Chip type is shown as NVIDIA, then check the NVIDIA website.

After updating the display driver on your computer, start your Carveco software and check whether you encounter any further warning messages or issues.

What if I encounter a crash despite updating my display card's driver?

When you encounter a crash, you should be prompted to submit an Error Report. Please ensure that you submit the Error Report using the email address associated with your Carveco software license.

Where installing the latest display driver fails to resolve your issue, please submit a support request using the instructions in the following knowledge base article: How do I submit a support request?

When submitting a support request and completing the associated form, please follow these steps:

  1. In the Description box, confirm the name of the computer on which you've encountered the issue in your Carveco software. If you're uncertain about your computer's name, use the instructions in the following Microsoft support article to find it: Do you need help locating your computer name?
